Couple donates $1 million to Pines of Sarasota

Sarasota - The Pines of Sarasota intends to extend a big thank you Friday to a local couple who has given its foundation $1 million — the largest donation it has ever received from private individuals.
The $1 million contribution from George Manser, who joined the board in 2008 and serves as vice chairman, and his wife, Jeanne, will add a 4,000-square-foot building to The Pines' therapy facilities for the 660 inpatients and outpatients treated there annually.
