Kiwanis Club of Sarasota Awards $45,000 in Grants

PR_graphic_pines_of_sarasota(Sarasota, FL) – The Kiwanis Club of Sarasota recently awarded over $45,000 in grants to the following organizations:

 

  • Boy Scouts of America – ScoutReach program - $3,000
  • Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota County – Adventures in Learning program - $10,000
  • Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County – RIF program match - $2,500
  • Florida Center for Child and Family Development – Purchase of School Readiness Kits for high-risk pre-school age children - $1,000
  • Habitat for Humanity – Sarasota Development of a second ReStore to support programs - $2,500
  • Manasota SOLVE Inc. – Mattresses in maternity home - $1,000
  • Mayors' Feed the Hungry Program – Help feed the hungry in local community - $1,000
  • Mothers Helping Mothers Help with monthly expenses - $1,000
  • Pines of Sarasota – Purchase alternating pressure mattresses - $10,000
  • Resurrection House – Medical Convalescence and Family-in-Need assistance, especially for temporary housing - $2,500
  • The Salvation Army – F.A.I.T.H. program for homeless families with children - $4,000
  • The Wellness Community-Southwest Florida – To provide funding for the Kiwanis Children's Expressive Arts Studio - $5,000
  • Community Haven – To install Field Turf on preschool playground areas to facilitate movement of all Haven students, including those with profound disabilities - $2,000

 

John Overton, President of the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota, said of the grantees, "Kiwanis is about service and every one of these organizations has served this community for many years and the number of people helped is inspiring. We are grateful for all they do and pleased to be able to assist them in any way we can."

The Kiwanis Club of Sarasota, Florida, is the original service organization in Sarasota founded in 1922, comprised of caring men and women from all walks of life. We serve the community by using our time and talents to raise funds for and participate in community improvement projects. We also provide financial assistance to young children and the needy served by local non-profit agencies. Luncheon meetings are held each week on Friday at 12:15 pm at the Golden Apple Dinner Theater, 25 N. Pineapple in downtown Sarasota.
